The Idea

Three hundred, sixty-five days.

That was the thought that sparked an idea.

A few nights before the end of 2013- I was lying in bed, thinking how fast the year seemed to buzz past. Three hundred sixty-five days had whisked by, with so much happening. You know the saying about time flying when fun is occurring? It's accurate. I remembered the perfect day in late March when I married my husband, Scott -- writer, editor, film nut. How we complement each other so well.

Then the idea. Three hundred, sixty-five days ... three hundred, sixty-five films.

I suggested the idea to Scott, who seemed intrigued...how to do it? What to choose? I suggested that each month should have a theme. Which to start with?

I thought of numbers, which inspired January's theme: Films made in the year of our births. Fifteen from 1959, and fifteen from 1973:

1959:
On the Beach
Ben-Hur
North by Northwest
Black Orpheus
The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Wasp Woman
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Rio Bravo
Operation Petticoat
Warlock
Plan 9 from Outer Space
Pillow Talk
The Mummy
Anatomy of a Murder
The Hanging Tree

1973:
American Graffiti
Enter the Dragon
The Exorcist
High Plains Drifter
Paper Moon
Serpico
Soylent Green
Theatre of Blood
The Wicker Man
The Sting
Emperor of the North
The Three Musketeers
Westworld
The Last of Sheila
Mean Streets

We haven't quite figured out the order yet. Enter the Dragon was first (post forthcoming)...but what will tonight's film be?

Oh, almost forgot:
For the 31st? Why, 1973's The Devil in Miss Jones. Gotta keep it classy.
